A Creepy (Cardboard) Halloween

So, here’s a little Halloween treat (or trick, as the case may be). Just for kicks, I put together a little Cardboard VR app for the season (download link below) and may have inadvertently created a new game genre in the process. For the time being, I’m calling it ‘Gaze-and-Select’. Think hidden-object/point-and-click game but instead of pointing and clicking, you simply gaze at an object to select it. It’s an interesting design problem in the new world of mixed reality. In VR you really have no cursor with which to select objects (well, okay, there is the unfortunately named, reticle, but often that can be distracting and should most likely be disabled unless necessary – as when dealing with UI interaction), and so you need to resort to gazing at items. In any case, in this little game you stand inside a creepy morgue setting. There are 7 items around the room you can look at which will trigger small events. You have to find all 7 in order to finish the game. Another design question: should there be hints?
